While I was sick I watched the following films in the following order:

Pierrot Le Fou : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycg2yb3qiUo (I liked it, but it did not blow my mind like Masculin Feminin, Breathless, or Band Of Outsiders.)

Michael Collins : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76-Ggwbh0Lk&feature=fvw (Liam Neeson can do no wrong. I also eat everything Neil Jordan serves. Yes, that includes: In Dreams, so suck it.  This is a wonderful Biopic. Rock.)

Absolute Power : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2Q7eIl6Ruk (Clint Eastwood makes solid movies. This one was not great, but pretty damn good. Shit, rveryone and their mother is in this joint. Laura Linney AND Judy Davis? Together in one film? Holy shit! They are my Rushmore’s, Max.)

White Oleander : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An6T_66uHLI (My special lady friend made me watch this. I am a sucker for Alison Lohman, so I conceded. Pretty damn good movie. Made me angry and upset. I like it when a movie moves me. That just reminded me of a Braid song…)

Alice : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5oLg2WJ8h0 (I don’t know if this is available non dubbed, but I’d dig getting my mittens on that version. The dubbing was terrible and the only thing that took me out of the game while I was watching were: The God Damn Narrating Lips. Ugh. I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay are somehow related. Truly Fucked Up. Truly Genius.)

The Doom Generation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDmt5i-sg3s (I’ve seen this film many times. It was one of three I was allowed to show to my special lady friend. Visually amazing, Verbally repugnant. Not as good as Nowhere, but fun none-the-less. Cameo by Parker Posey makes me all giddy ‘n’ shit.)

Barcelona : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnytcMClO38 (Whatever happened to Whit Stillman? Motherfucker makes three movies and splits. Unfair. I’ve seen this film several times. The lady wanted something Woody Allen but not Woody Allen or Noah Baumbach but not Noah Baumbach. Whit Stillman fits right in there. Solid, humorous and often over my head.)

Strange Days : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yaXPx6xWEQ (Kathryn Bigelow knows how to make action/tension movies. See Point Break and/or Near Dark and/or The Hurt Locker for reference. By far one of my favorite near future low-fi/sci-fi films ever. Look for Lord Voldemort as a strung out software pimping junkie.)

Boyz N The Hood : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_ZNafAFTo8 (I’ve pretty much written off John Singleton as hokey/stupid. So I never gave this movie a chance. I apologize. This is by far the best film of his I’ve ever seen and it’s not over the top cheesy. Laurence Fishburne made me feel proud to be a human.)

Alien Nation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1jURDHRINY (Was this terrible or genius? I have no idea. But it had Mandy Patinkin in it and he makes me laugh without even trying. Would I watch it again? Not so much.)
